100-bed Super Speciality Hospital: A Major Step in the Sphere of Healthcare Services in Sitamarhi

Amid the first and second wave of the pandemic, poverty-stricken families suffered a lot as they failed to save their family members either due to costly treatment or the unavailability of good healthcare facilities in rural segments of Bihar. Narendra Kumar, the driving force behind Hindrise Social Welfare Foundation and Aatmnirbhar Sena, realized the importance of strengthening the healthcare system in the Sitamarhi district to give better access to healthcare services to people residing in villages of Sitamarhi district and other nearby areas. The 100-bed super speciality hospital project is a significant initiative taken by Narendra Kumar in the direction of improving the healthcare segment and supporting underprivileged lives.

Aatmnirbhar Sena ensures that nobody should die from the scarcity of healthcare facilities, and the upgraded modern infrastructure in Bihar will transform the lives of poor and helpless ones. The land acquired for 100 beds hospital in Sitamarhi is 40,000 sq. Ft. The overall project cost is about Rs. 900 lakh in which Rs. 500 lakh will be incurred on equipment and material whereas Rs. 400 lakh is likely to be incurred on building development. In addition to this, a 1 Crore fund has been raised from promoters and the core group. The current status is that the boundary wall has been completed and about Rs. 25 lakh has been incurred on the same. Besides this, the construction of the building will be commenced very soon.

Why there is a Need to Bolster Healthcare Structure in Sitamarhi and Other less Developed Regions of Bihar?

• Near about 134 Public Health Centres (Also known as PHCs) are needed in the Sitamarhi district.
• Unfortunately, in the Sitamarhi district, only 16 Public Health Centres (PHCs) are available.
• 118 PHCs are the urgent requirements of the current time.
• In Bihar, the healthcare centres along with sub-centres are not performing upto the mark, and they are consistently failing to meet the healthcare requirements of folks residing in villages of Sitamarhi.
• As per the NITI Aayog Report, district hospitals in Bihar have 6 beds per one lakh population.
• The ground report suggests that 2.5 lakh+ people succumbed to death in Bihar during the first & second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.
