The Vision of this Project
A mentor is an astute modern-day facilitator. The role of a mentor is extremely important in an incubation lab or a start-up project. All the individuals and organisations who would be joining hands with the schools on this project would actually be working as a mentor. The only difference is the mentor, in this case, would be addressed as a volunteer. For example, just imagine Sundar Pichai getting associated with his school or Virat Kohli sharing his nuggets of wisdom at his alma mater. The flow of knowledge would work both ways. The students and teachers of the school would gain from the experience of their ‘volunteers’. And the volunteers or the organisations would understand the requirements, difficulties and implementation hurdles being faced by these schools.
Government schools in seismic zones or flood-prone areas, in forests, on hilly terrain have specific kinds of requirements. They are different from their city or metro brethren. To survive in those inhospitable conditions is a matter of sustainability for these schools. Schools being washed away during cloudbursts or floods mean students studying under the sun for months or years altogether until a new building comes up. It is where companies like Larsen & Toubro, Vedanta, SAIL, BHEL and others can chip in. They have the resources and wherewithal to help the government in building and maintaining these schools in such areas.
The government would be in a win-win situation both ways. They can closely interact with the proven individuals who would be bringing in their years of experience working on global platforms. The close interaction can be worked in other areas beyond education too by both parties. And the corporate would open their godowns and manufacturing facilities to provide equipments, tools and other material requirements for the schools. The schools in deep areas would get a benefactor, so as to speak of, in times of crisis and the school children need not be afraid of studying under the sun, again.
To bridge the gap between private sector participation and schools is the chief objective of Vidyanjali 2.0 Portal. This new move aims to direct the traffic of valued and respected professionals, working or retired, towards the school.
Individuals endeavouring to chip in as volunteers can work with these schools in several capacities. They can directly involve themselves in school’s activities. Or else they could provide with their knowledge or physical objects needed by these schools. School students could gain from their wisdom or experience. The level of education could jump up several layers with these schools association with these seasoned professionals. Finally, all these efforts would trigger the rate of employment positively, for sure.

It is going to be one of the best foundations to have been laid by the central government to prepare today’s children for tomorrow’s needs. We must lap up this opportunity by the concerned ministry to give some of our knowledge and wisdom back to our schools.
