Spread the love

Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari proclaimed himself as the “Brand Ambassador” of the first eco-friendly cow dung paint of India, Khadi Prakritik paint.  In a press conference, while making an announcement regarding India’s first cow dung paint, he said he would be the official brand ambassador of Indian khadi Prakritik paint. Furthermore, he added that he would be encouraging the young entrepreneurs to proceed ahead for the business of cow dung paint manufacturing. The plan is to promote this new initiative across the nation.

Another noteworthy feature about Khadi-based paint is that it is India’s first and only paint manufactured by using dung. Sounds interesting, isn’t it? Well, we believe that it’s a revolutionary move in the direction of making India self-reliant. Many budding entrepreneurs are excited to gain more insights into the manufacturing units that will be producing khadi cow dung paint.

While virtually inaugurating the new automated manufacturing unit of India’s first environment-friendly paint in Jaipur, Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari Ji emphasized the empowerment of the rural & agro-based economy of the nation with the rising number of manufacturing units. According to Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari Ji, Khadi Prakritik Paint has tremendous potential of formulating sustainable development for the welfare of the disadvantaged ones who are battling against poverty every day, and the target must revolve around establishing a paint manufacturing unit in each and every village. In addition to this, he mentioned that inaugurating this manufacturing unit is more satisfying and pleasing in comparison with inaugurating infrastructure projects of about lakhs of crores of rupees.

India’s First Eco-friendly Cow Dung Paint Manufacturing Unit in Jaipur

  • India’s first cow dung paint manufacturing unit has been established on the campus of KNHPI[1] (Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute), Jaipur.
  • It’s a unit of the well-known Khadi and Village Industries Commission.
  • The manufacturing unit is all set to maximize the manufacturing capacity of the paint made from dung from 500 to 1000 litres daily.
  • In the virtual inauguration, Union MSME Minister has acknowledged the innovation.
  • Nitin Gadkari Ji ordered 100 litres of cow-dung color on the auspicious occasion, and he is planning to apply it at his residential place in Nagpur.
  • The pure and organic paint manufactured at the automated manufacturing unit is available in two special variants- Emulsion and Distemper.
  • This unique paint encompasses Ashta Laabh, which means it holds eight essential benefits such as anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and other properties.

Mission to set up 50 Plants for Producing Khadi Prakritik Paint

After virtually inaugurating the model manufacturing plant, Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari is striving to establish 50 manufacturing plants for producing khadi Prakritik plant, a non-toxic, environment-friendly paint from pure dung produced by cows. At the Jaipur training centre, about 30 students have already undergone training, and a training program for another batch is actively running. The target is to establish 50 plants in Vidarbha in the initial three months, and till now, orders have been placed for 12 units.

Youth will be receiving loans under the PM’s Employment Generation Programme, wherein they will obtain a subsidy of about 35% in rural areas & 25% in urban areas.

Advantages of Cow Dung Paint

The key advantages of using cow dung paint are mentioned below-

  • As it is made of 30% of cow dung, it carries medicinal benefits and organic properties.
  • It is keenly priced and affordable as compared to other brands that belong to the same domain.
  • Setting up a manufacturing unit of this organic paint in rural areas is not an uphill task as there is sufficient availability of cow dung.
  • It will reduce the burden from the urban region by maximizing employment opportunities in villages.
  • Furthermore, the cattle wouldn’t be shifted to slaughterhouses as the demand graph for cow dung is exhibiting an upward trend.

Objectives of Setting up Cow Dung Paint Manufacturing Unit

The objectives of setting up this unique cow dung paint manufacturing unit are exhibited below-

Objectives of Setting up Cow Dung Paint Manufacturing Unit
  • To strengthen the rural as well as agro-based economy throughout the geographical boundaries of the nation
  • To encourage the young entrepreneurs to make them initiate the manufacturing of organic paint made up of cow dung
  • To provide eco-friendly and odourless paint at a cost-effective value
  • To accelerate the Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission
  • To create rural employment and increase farmers’ income

Investment Required

The funding for initiating this business will be covered under the government scheme concerning the MSME sector. About 11 people will be receiving employment in a plant. Khadi and Village Industries Commission is charging a royalty fee of Rs. 1 lakh for one-time in order to offer the technology and providing the facility to sell via PAN-India network of about 8600 retail khadi outlets.

  • This cow dung paint is waterproof, washable, long-lasting and dries in no time.
  • Also, it must adhere to BIS standards.
  • Khadi Prakritik emulsion paint will be available in a white colour base.
  • Matt finish will be an added advantage.
  • Furthermore, it can be transformed into any colour of preference by appropriately blending colourants.
