Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana, a maternity benefit programme by the Indian Government, came into existence in the year 2017. The Ministry of Women & Child Development is the responsible body for the implementation of this social welfare programme. This Yojana renders a direct cash benefit to pregnant as well as lactating mothers of 19 years of age or above for the first living child in the family.
We are entirely aware of the fact that a healthy child needs a healthy mother. Maternal health deserves special attention by one and all as a healthy mother lays the foundation for the children to live a nutritious and quality-rich life. Maternal health plays a substantial role in the direction of capacitating women to make them go through easy as well as complication-free delivery.
Around one-fifth of the global maternal deaths got recorded in India in the year 2015. The most significant reasons behind this heartbreaking number are hierarchies at the social level and weak healthcare infrastructure. In rural regions of India, a major chunk of the female population suffers from malnutrition & Anaemia. Timely identification of health risks is crucial, and the prevention of any ongoing health-related issue is also essential.
