The Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPMKVVCL) has come up with a great initiative in the form of the Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Scheme. This is a scheme introduced to empower the women of our country. The motive behind introducing Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Scheme is to make the women able to become self-reliant, well-informed, and strong.

Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPMKVVCL) was incorporated as a fully-owned Government Company on 31st May 2002. The company is responsible for managing the activities of retail supply and distribution in the areas covered by the Commissionaires of Hoshangabad, Gwalior, Chambal, and Bhopal.

Under this scheme, women SHG (self-help group) work at the Gram Panchayat level. This group working for the welfare and development of self and others is a part of the Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Scheme.

The Strategy of the Scheme

The idea behind bringing this scheme is to increase the revenue generation of all the electricity companies. This will also help several companies in preventing the illegal use of electricity. Under this scheme, new electricity connections will be provided to people. Hence, Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Scheme is a powerful tool to make the women of our country strong.

Women working at the Gram Panchayat level, in the SHG (self-help-group) would be named Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Sevaks and would be granted a new source of income.

Introduction

The scheme has been already implemented in all Gram Panchayats of all the 16 districts of Gwalior, Chambal, Narmadapuram (Hoshangabad), and Bhopal.

The intention behind launching the mobile application UPAY is to make the people stress-free of all the tension related to bill payments, new connections, faulty meters, etc. The purpose of the Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Scheme is to make the women SHG (self-help group) collect information about electricity theft and illegal use of electricity.

Objective of Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Scheme

Under the Nishtha Vidyut Mitra scheme, the women SHG (self-help group) will be responsible for motivating the consumers to pay their electricity bills online either through the portal or by using the mobile application. Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Sevaks will also be responsible for collecting complaints from consumers based on online bill payments, new connections, faulty meters, etc.

The Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Sevaks or Women SHG (self-help group), also works to provide new connections to their consumers through online processes. Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPMKVVCL) pays an incentive to Nishtha Vidyut Mitra Sevaks for the recovery of dues and for making new electricity connections.

Incentive Amount

• The enrolled candidate will get 10% of the bill incurred on the new single-phase connection.
• An incentive of ₹50 will be given on every new single-phase connection.
• An incentive of ₹200 will be given on a three-phase connection.
• Based on the half-yearly calculation, 15% incentive will be given on the amount recovered by the SHG (self-help group).
• If the SHG (self-help) reports an electricity theft or illegal use of electricity, then an incentive of 10% will be given.
• This 10% would be based on the receipt of the bill amount.
