The development of self-reliant community would raise the bar for the economy. Addressing the nation amid lockdown, our honorable prime minister,Shri Narendra Modi, emphasized the necessity of a ‘self-reliant’ India. The concept of ‘self-reliant’ India aims to resurrect the moribund Indian economy through fiscal measures and make the economy self-reliant. For India to achieve the goal of well-developed sustainable development, our nation must first become ‘self-reliant.’ In his speech, the prime minister highlighted that India’s self-reliance would be based on five pillars- Economic, Infrastructure, System, Demography, and Demand. The aim is to focus on these five pillars and move the nation towards sustainable development of self-reliant community.
Apart from developing the country, being ‘self-reliant’ will help the country’s people create positive psychology and reduce dependence on others. When people of the nation rely way too much on heavy influences such as government agencies and non-governmental organizations, they surrender control of their means and, more importantly, their future. They allow others to make decisions, not always in the best interest of these communities. Therefore, it is essential to become ‘self-reliant’ for every individual as it would help them to run a sustainable economy for themselves eventually.
Aatmnirbhar Package: Boosting the Development of Self-Reliant Community
By bringing in various systematic, planned, and integrated reforms, the government is focused on making every sector of economy future-ready. The Aatmnirbhar Bharat package announced by the government, which is about 10 percent of India’s GDP, will provide immediate support to society’s needy sections and boost the country’s development journey in 2020. For every sector to become ‘self-reliant’ government has divided the ‘Aatmnirbhar Package‘ into five different tranches. The first tranche focuses on getting back to work, i.e., facilitating employees and employers and businesses to get back to production and workers back to profitable employment. It also plans to strengthen theNBFCs, HFCs, Microfinance, and Power sector.
Further, the Tranche 2 focuses on the poor, including migrant workers, street hawkers, and farmers. The government will be providing additional free food grains and chana for two months to migrant workers. The government will also provide relief to small businesses under MUDRA-Shishu loans by providing interest subvention of two percent for one-time payees for 12 months. The next three tranches focus on the revival and development of agriculture, employment generation, healthcare sector, education sector, ease of doing business or corporates, etc.
